Fire TV setup guide

Can I install VPNio
on my Fire TV Stick?

Yes—on compatible Fire OS devices. Check the operating system first, then use the official VPNio Downloader code to install the Android app safely.

Amazon lists the Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025) and Fire TV Stick HD (2026) as Vega OS devices. Confirm your model before buying VPNio specifically for Fire TV use. Check Amazon's current device specifications

01

Check your Fire TV model first

From the Fire TV home screen, open Settings, then My Fire TV (sometimes labeled Device & Software) and About. Note the model name and operating system shown there.

Compatible does not mean every Fire TV.

VPNio publishes an Android APK. Continue only when your Fire TV runs Fire OS and provides the setting that lets Downloader install an APK. If the device uses Vega OS, contact support with the exact model name before buying.

02

Install VPNio with Downloader

  1. Install Downloader

Search for Downloader in the Amazon Appstore, install it, and open it once so Fire OS can show its permission.

  2. Allow this installation

Open Developer Options, choose Install Unknown Apps, and turn the permission on for Downloader only.

  3. Enter code 8299667

Type the official VPNio code into Downloader's URL field and select Go. If a code is not accepted, enter https://auth.streamshieldvpn.net/app/vpnio/latest.apk.

  4. Install, open, and activate

Follow the device prompts, open VPNio, and use the activation details from your VPNio customer portal. Turn Downloader's installation permission off again when setup is complete.

03

If Developer Options is missing

On many Fire OS models the menu is hidden by default. Open Settings → My Fire TV (or Device & Software) → About, highlight the device name, and press the remote's Select button seven times. Return to the previous screen and look for Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps.

If Install Unknown Apps appears but Downloader is not listed, install and open Downloader first, then return to that menu. Do not enable the permission for unrelated apps.

04

Fix common installation problems

The code will not open

Confirm the Fire TV is online, then use the full official APK address above instead of the short code.

“App not installed” appears

Recheck the device OS, confirm Downloader has permission, free storage if needed, and remove any incomplete download before trying again.

VPNio installed but will not open

Restart the Fire TV and open VPNio from Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications. If it still fails, record the model and OS version for support.

VPNio opens but will not connect

Confirm the device has internet access, recheck your activation details, and review the VPNio server status before opening a support request.
